Head of Technical Services

Birmingham Hippodrome is now seeking a Head of Technical Services.  This key leadership role will lead and manage our Technical, Facilities and Stage Door teams, deputising for the Director of Operations where necessary and ensuring the highest standards are achieved and maintained. You will also be the Health and Safety ‘responsible person’ charged with championing all aspects of production Health & Safety.  Senior technical management experience in a similar or comparable environment and a NEBOSH or equivalent qualification is therefore essential.

This is an exciting period in the Hippodrome’s history as we celebrate the theatre’s 120th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of the charitable Theatre Trust.  With a mission to enrich the cultural life of our region, Birmingham Hippodrome is one of the most popular theatre complexes in the UK.  Varied productions in our 1,850-seat auditorium (dating from 1899), and in our 200-seat Patrick Studio, combined with our learning and participation projects, ensure we play a key role in the region’s world-class cultural scene.  With c.400 live performances annually in our main house, we present nothing but the best in touring musical theatre, ballet, dance, opera, pantomime, as well as drama and comedy.  Average annual paid attendance of over 500,000 makes us the busiest single theatre in the UK where everyone is welcome.  Our Patrick Studio welcomes a range of smaller-scale productions and is an important base for dance and for the development of new artistic work.  We have a reputation for providing visitors with a world-class experience and we employ our creative flair to contribute to every step – attending a show, participating in a workshop or enjoying a corporate event.

If you are interested in applying for this rare opportunity to join our world-class team, please send a copy of your CV to James Dodd at Martin Tripp Associates.  His email is james@trippassociates.co.uk
